I can hardly wait!

What to do about the hyacinths:
As the little florets fade, snip them off until the bloom stem is all that's left. Leave it; it is green and will help with photosynthesis. Dig holes 6 inches deep, in rich soil in an unprotected area-- hyacinths need winter chill. Separate the bulbs gently as possible to protect the roots. Plant each bulb with 2-3 inches of the stem and leaves in the soil, gently backfilling over the roots.

Next year may not have much of a bloom, but they'll recover and the following spring should be pretty, pretty.Jean Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09000315400392984647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3979720903165549695.post-72757016554394410402010-02-22T22:23:29.511-06:002010-02-22T22:23:29.511-06:00Whoa you have been a busy girl and think of the en...Whoa you have been a busy girl and think of the enjoyment you'll get out of it later. I would let them get a little bigger and then thin out the areas a bit that are really crowded. I honestly don't do too much thinning of them outside, once they have a couple sets of leaves I'd probably thin them to around 8 inches apart. Mine did great fairly crowded last summer and bloomed like crazy. Glad to see how quickly they sprouted!Catherine@AGardenerinProgresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05001060769253273283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3979720903165549695.post-17129584891100396552010-02-22T13:23:06.507-06:002010-02-22T13:23:06.507-06:00You have had a busy weekend and a productive one t...You have had a busy weekend and a productive one too. I like to see your seeds growing. In the past when I've only noticed one see coming up, it has meant that the others have been eaten by something or other! Can't wait to see how your garden progresses.
Blessings, StarStella Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06699491230987143490noreply@blogger.com
