Bloomin' Tuesday

It's Bloomin Tuesday ya'll. So glad to see Jean getting us going this year with some lovely blooms. Especially good since so many of us have been enjoying an early spring.

Couldn't ask for a prettier weekend. Blue skies - temps around 80 - light breeze - low humidity - it was just right. Hope you had a nice weekend too. I couldn't help but to get outside and enjoy the weather and my gardens.

I love these tiny little triple blooms on the daffodils. This is the last of the daffs to bloom.

Spirea - we call it bridal wreath.

My favorite azalea. This one blooms after all the others have lost their flowers. The shrub is loaded with buds.

Worked on this bed a little more. Looks like a half a dog bone. Maybe I should keep the shape and call it Buddy's garden. LOL

This lonely little geranium. More will be joining this baby soon.

Moss Rose. Love these hardy little plants.

We bought a tangerine tree. It is named Dandy Tangerine. It is loaded with little fruit already.

This is what the weekend and today looks like. Beautiful and pleasant. This is why I like living on the Gulf Coast of Alabama.

Bloomin' Tuesday

The following couple of photos were taken with a lot of humidity. We have been up in the 90% range of humidity. The camera fogged. It makes for interesting pics anyhow.

I have some blue forget-me-nots bloomin now. Thanks Darla.

Begonias my favorite easy plant.

Vincas another favorite. They put on a show all summer long and are not affected by the heat.

These are some plants I purchased this past weekend at the once a year sale open to the public from Cottage Farms. I was a little disappointed that the plants weren't labeled very well and that there were not many in bloom to see the flower colors.

This one is a Butterfly Weed with blooms.

Bloomin' Tuesday

Good morning. It's Tuesday and ya'll know what that means - it's Bloomin' Tuesday over at Jeans. Head on over to Jeans at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ and see who else has something bloomin.

Thought I'd share my begonia's today. I love begonia's and they perform beautifully for me. Most of the time they come back even after a harsh winter like we had this year. All of mine from last year didn't come back but this little baby did. When I trim them to encourage new blossoms or the shape it, I place them into the ground and most of the time they will make root. I place this one in its new home this weekend.

I told ya'll I was going to purchase me some color this weekend and I did. I'll share the others on Friday but this is one of my new begonias. The container called this one Olympia White. This is the first time I've seen them identified on the container.

I spent most of Sunday cleaning the yard and ya'll need I remind you that my yard is huge 3-4 acres. And I also mowed the lawn. It always looks so good and I love the fresh grass smell. I also took a creative side so I grabbed it and went with it. I filled two pots with begonias. The little yellow pot is one that I painted this weekend. It took 5 coats of paint to cover. The can said it was good on clay but it still took a lot of coats. The chair looks nice and is comfortable to enjoy a cup of coffee. (Oops I should have moved the ashtray. Now ya know.)

Earlier this year I pulled the big iron chair from the shed of surprises and painted it yellow. I love it now. I want different cushions but hey this works fine till then. The rusty small chair I pulled from the shed last year. It is different and am not sure what this chair might have been used for but it reminds me of a babies high chair but it has no front or side. Perhaps a belt but no sign a belt was attached. Should I paint the chair?

Bloomin' Tuesday

Good morning blogging buddies. Today is Tuesday and it's time for Bloomin' Tuesday over at Jean's. Ya'll go check it out and see who else has something blooming.


I have another new daffodil blooming here. This one has a small flower but they are a double coming off the same stalk.

Another one with slightly different coloring.

This orange and white baby is face up. She is kissing the sun.

And a few things that are coming along in the garden. Zinnias are popping everywhere. Zinnia's have to be the best and easiest to grow of just about any other plant other than begonia's. They are not fussy at all.

Two of my bulbs/rhizomes I planted 4 weeks ago has not come up yet. Phlox and Clematis H.F.Young are running behind. After 4 weeks they may not do anything.

My Sarah Bernhardt Peony has just come up and is taking off now. It took this one about 3 weeks to spring up and look at it now.

Hollyhocks I put down as seeds are doing well. Not many of the seeds I direct sowed are doing anything at all. I have learned that I should always put out little seedlings because I tend to pull what I think are weeds and probably were not weeds at all. Unfortunately yesterday I pulled up some Johnny Jump Ups before I realized what I had done. Oh well - gardens are always a work in progress and learning experience.

Dahlia's are really coming alive. These have been out of the ground only about 10-14 days and look at them now.

Bloomin' Tuesday - Bellingrath Gardens

I recently heard from the friend I had written about before and we headed on over to Bellingrath Gardens. This was the first time I have been to the Gardens and there was hardly anything blooming. No daffodils and hardly any azaleas. I suppose they peaked a couple of weeks ago. I will be going back and will share more of the gardens and about Mr and Mrs Bellingrath and their home. Time does not permit this morning.

This past weekend was to be the Annual Rose Show. Due to the severe weather we had over the winter they said they had to cancel the show. But here are a few that were blooming.

Some hydrangea's were blooming. They were so beautiful and about the size of a basketball.

I have another new daffodil. Check this one out. It looks like the sun is shining on it it is so bright. It truly is this color with the yellow tips on the petals.

Azaleas in front of my house yesterday - this is at their peak. My neighborhood is just now peaking.
