A Few Blooms Hanging Out

A few blooms are hanging around and many more are on the way.

I wish there was smellavision 'cause this smells heavenly. There are little tangerine's all over the plant.

I can't believe the fruit on the little plum tree. The tree was naked when it was planted about 6 weeks ago and it is growing so well.

Can you see the blueberries. Loaded. 

I am puzzled by the peach tree. The little peaches are dying before they even get a good start.

 Look at them on the ground. The tree has been fertilized and new soil added. The tree is healthier than it's ever been. Maybe some will 'hang out' and ripen.

I live on roly poly avenue and all the roly poly's live at my house. I've never seen so many in one place like I have. They are harmless as far as I know but I think they are munching on plants. From what I've read my place is just right for them to breed in damp places and under things. So I guess I'll just live with them.

When I was a little girl we would gather up as many as we could find and put them all in a jar and watch them crawl around. Loved watching them roll into a ball and we'd scoot them across the room. Fun times.

Some Blooms

 Saturday was an awesome gorgeous day on the Gulf Coast. This is my favorite time of year when new things are happening. To me it is a refreshing time of year. I love getting outdoors and piddling in the gardens when the weather is so nice. Wish I could take my desk out there today.

This is Dees Pecan Company where I have purchased coffee for some lucky person and some other goodies to be thrown in.

Saturday.

This is a good before of what I accomplished this weekend. I worked my hiney off enlarging this garden. You see it didn't start out that way. I intended only to clean it out and put down a few new plants for color. I was shoveling around the outer edges to edge it out and ta-da....

I added another 20 inches to the bed. Doesn't sound like much but the garden is pretty big by my standards anyway.

I've been needing a place for the lantern and I think it fits here nicely for now anyway. Soon there will lots of plants here. But I could not wait on seeds so whats a gardener to do but go buy some plants...

And this is what I bought.

These are such a pretty color. The camera doesn't do it justice. It is a soft lavender and they are full of buds. This is Osteospermum. I'll not remember that name.

I bought 2 shades of the Nemesia. The coral is pretty. And they are full of buds.

And the purple Nemesia.

Zonal Geraniums.

I'm gonna hold out hope that I have some juicy peaches this year. The tree is not as full of blooms as in years past. I'm telling you this past years summer drought hit hard on the fruit. That's why I didn't have any pecans.

I'm a Sewing and Have Some Blooms

Good Morning. I heard on the weather report today that a lot of people are not having a good day today or for the next couple of days, weatherwise that is. Terrible - record setting snow for you guys up north. I hate it. Here we are socked in with fog this morning and expecting severe weather this afternoon as a cold front pushes in. Today the highs in the upper 60's and tomorrow the upper 40's.

Saturday on the other hand was a beautiful day with temps of around 70 and these pretty blue skies. So you know what I did...

I got out into the gardens and did a little spruce up. The leaves were several inches thick but I left some in to protect seedlings coming up - that is if there is anything other than the weeds. I hesitate to pull some of them up because they could be a flowering plant. I check the grass to see if I see lots of the same thing growing there. Then out they go.

I found my Blue Hyancinth blooming. It sure isn't as pretty as it was last year blooming in my house. But look at it there are 4 babies from this one bulb.

Dianthus is beginning to think it's spring.

Last year I planted these shasta daisy's from a seedling I started indoors. It never bloomed but it has stayed green most of the winter. I'm hoping for some blooms this year or I'll pull them out.

Dusty Miller is so hardy. Last year they were so big in this garden I think that I'll be moving a couple of them.

I got rid of this...

....for this. I fried chicken, cooked potatos for mashed potatos and french cut green beans and Pillsbury French Bread Roll. Hey if you haven't tried this bread - you need to. It is so good and is nice to have something different. I was able to cook on three burners - four if I needed it. I'm so happy with it.

I was excited to finally sew and I completed one kitchen curtain panel. I think I did pretty well. Oh by the way I shared 2 patterns curtain patterns with you and guess what - there is no pattern for making curtains. I winged on these and I think they turned out nice. I was short on fabric so I improvised with the 4" piece on the top to give it more in length. The new machine sews good I've just got to get used to the way it sews with these fancy presser foot and how it pulls the fabric so fast. Anyway I love it. And right now I am needing this distraction from some other personal family stuff going on right now. I could use a few more prayers as some of this is so difficult to handle. My heart is broken.

Fertilizer Friday

Good Friday Morning. It's that time again each week when we link up with Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday - a time when we like to share what's blooming and what's not. Have you fertilized your babies yet this year? Finally -I did that yesterday. Ya'll head on over to Tootsie's and check out who else is flaunting their spring flowers.

I have some pretty daffodils still a bloomin. This is the first one like this. Did I tell you that the 55 bulbs I bought in January for $5 contained different kinds of daffodils. I love this one that just opened.

I love how this snapdragon keeps showing itself.

This is what I have in various plantings and germination and seedling stage. Many are on their second plantings. Don't know where I'm gonna put it all. I think I might need to create another small garden - perhaps in the back of the house. Most of these come from fellow bloggers. Enlarge to see what is currently going that you may have sent. Several packs from other bloggers didn't make it the first round and they have been started again and a couple just didn't do at all before using all of the seeds. There are still more that haven't made into the seed start yet.

This is how the new porch garden is filling in now. The big mass you see to the right is Breadseed Poppies and a few more plants. There are Red Melon Poppies down to the other end.

Full Tide Iris is up. Sure hope all of the iris's bloom.

The pear tree is producing good but not like the peaches. Little pears.

WE NEED RAIN BAD. The fruit is going to affected by this drought we are currently experiencing. Seems the weather affects is every year with too much rain or not enough. I'm gonna hose them this weekend. It takes a lot of water to make a difference with fruit trees and then it may not be enough. I've been watering the flower gardens as the seedlings are starting to suffer a little. I have watered well over the past three days before adding a small of amount fertilizer. It has been since mid March since we have had any rain to amount to anything.
