Pretty Blooms

Hey everybody - I'm still here. I know you wondered when I'd share some more of my pretty blooms. I have a few blooms to share today. I have to get a new memory card for the camera so I can take more pics. This time of year the gardens are busy. There is lots to do but we have been extremely dry lately. I run the sprinkler for 3-4 hours each day moving it around to each garden area. This is fine for a while but they really need water from the sky.

Someone must have given me seeds for this echinacea. I do not know where it came from. Last year I put out seeds but had no luck with them. This year they are doing really well. I did plant some echinacea pink parosol but the bloom on it has not opened yet. Is this Purpea?

Cosmos Happy Ring is doing well.

Foxglove

Endless Summer. Hope to get more blooms here. The flower is as big as the plant so I am hoping for some growth on the plant.

I'm sorry but I do not remember the name of this one. I believe it is suppose to be purple but it is like a strawberry color.

Love the huge blooms on the cannas.

I was lucky to get this little rain shower last Thur and Friday morning. However when I went out on Friday afternoon to do some weeding I discovered the ground to be extremely dry just below the wet surface. I need RAIN. Actually a tropical system would be nice. Not a storm but just the rain produced by a tropical system.

I am so ready to overhaul a couple of my gardens. This time of year I see the empty spaces and some overgrown plants in places where I would prefer a more tame or smaller plants. I was thinking of moving some plants such as shasta daisy's, salvia, mums and butterfly bush. Wish I could move the daffodils but I'm sure this is not the time. Do you feel this way when your plants are blooming and not doing exactly what you want them to do in the area they occupy? It's kinda like re-arranging furniture I suppose....

I'm going to go plant shopping again. I believe there are new arrivals calling my name. Can you hear it?

Busy Gardens

UGGGHHH Blogger has gone thru some changes this morning. I hate forced changes. I also hate learning new computer stuff.

My gardens are getting busy with bees, bugs, butterflys, weeds, and plants and flowers and me of course. And this is the best time of year in my book when there is so much green and new colors in the garden beds. I love driving up to my house and seeing the gardens as I come down the street.

All of these pics are from only one of my gardens. This is beside the driveway in front.

Dahlia Figaro seeds are doing well here in this bed. Do you think I'll have any blooms? I hope so as they are in a spot that there must be some color.

Some of you identified this one as Yarrow. I've never grown this before. I had no idea that it is a spreader. All of the shoots near the bottom are growing new plants beside it. Am I gonna hate this. It seems to be a rapid spreader?

I believe this is echinacea. The echinacea I have in my yard not just this garden is coming up from seed. This one is from seed. It has a foxglove beside it and they are fighting for space. Hoping for some pretty blooms. There a couple of echinacea plants here.

Foxglove that is growing from seed. All of my foxglove is from seed except the one I bought yesterday. I sure am hoping that I get some blooms this year.

Help me out here. I think this is larkspur. Is it?

Yesterday I could'nt resist more snapdragons. I purchased every one they had. But check it out. When I went out to take these pics I realized I had left these uncovered.

I had already taken my bath but I got out and covered them up. It's OK I didn't mind getting my hands dirty again.

All covered up and snuggled into the soil.

I found some pretty dahlias yesterday 'Dahlia Dahlinova'. The sun was directly on them so the pic is kinda bright.

My first foxglove - 'Foxglove Camelot'. There was no selection of foxgloves yesterday and they are pricey too. Can you see the poppie plants? I am still hoping for a bloom since they are growing pretty good now.

I have enjoyed shopping at Home Depot garden center this year. They have had the best selections in plants and they are very healthy.

So this is what the garden looks like now. There is butterfly bush and milkweed and lots of dianthus, cannas and plenty of hollyhocks, echinacea and a few more I can't think of right now going to bloom in this garden. Keeping the green thumbs crossed.

Excuse the blury picture. Mosquitos were biting me and I jerked. The mosquitos and many other bugs are worse than usual this year due to the unusually warm winter. Sometimes its hard to be outside - constantly swatting.

I surprised mom with some flowers and dirt and planted her garden yesterday. She was tickled to death. She was napping when I got there and it was done when she woke up. I planted lantana, mexican heather, salvia, begonias, snapdragons and pentas. She has some seeds in here too and I didn't want to disturb too many of them. I may have to go back and fill in where the seeds don't make it this year.

At mom's.

I can't believe how big this fern is.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Fertilizer Friday - Things Are Springing Up

Click on title to go to Tootsie Time.

Well it's that time each week to flaunt our flowers or whatever you want to flaunt. Ya'll head on over to our dear friend Tootsie Time and check out all of the other bloggers flaunting their stuff. Tootsie has the most awesome magazine perfect gardens so I know you'll enjoy...

My uploads did not go in the order I intended as I got in a hurry this morning.

The same azalea that bloomed all winter long is budding again. All of the other azaleas are just now budding.

These are some bulbs that I bought at Walmart and will be putting them all in the ground this weekend.

I can't wait to see this beautiful Clematis H.F. Young.

Oh and this awesome Peony.

Beautiful Dahlias.

Ooohh I love these Iris' and can't wait to see how gorgeous they are.

Pear tree is beginning to blossom.

The peach tree in bloom.

Lettuce is coming along very nicely. Looks like soon I'll be able to eat a salad.

The broccoli is doing very well.

Planted lots of seeds last weekend.

I mentioned earlier this week about changing up my seeds start mix by adding in some organic potting mix. This is going to allow a much easier transfer to the gardens. I tried different containers that are on the cheap side. Drink bottles and milk carton. I punched holes in the bottoms and cut them to about 3" high and they are perfect. Plenty of soil for the seeds and will permit better root growth.

I already have a couple breaking the surface. The Shasta Alaska Daisy and the Sweet Pea Everlasting and Sweet William 'Sooty'. I'm sure the others will be up this weekend.

A little color on the ground. Snapdragon I purchased on clearance. They are re-blooming and lots of new buds. Those daffodils I don't expect them to bloom since they were just planted in Mid Jan.

Johnson's Blue Geranium is greening up.

The Red Breadseed Poppies seem to be happy here.

Isn't this a crocus. I have tons of these growing up under a tree in the shade. I will have to re-locate them when it's time.

I did some direct sowing last evening. I planted some Foxglove (thanks Tatyana) and Red Melon Poppies (thanks Tatyana) and more Red Breadseed Poppies.
Busy weekend ahead. The weather is suppose to be a breezy 65 for highs both Sat and Sun. Lots of garden work to do and to my utility room. It is still torn apart since I am trying to get some shelving in and not to mention that my washer is not fixed. Brought back to me but it doesn't work. Gotta get a new plan so I can wash.
Hope you all have a great weekend and that you enjoy each day like it was your last. Don't forget to tell your loved ones that you love them.
