Fertilizer Friday

Good Friday Morning. It's that time again each week when we link up with Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday - a time when we like to share what's blooming and what's not. Have you fertilized your babies yet this year? Finally -I did that yesterday. Ya'll head on over to Tootsie's and check out who else is flaunting their spring flowers.

I have some pretty daffodils still a bloomin. This is the first one like this. Did I tell you that the 55 bulbs I bought in January for $5 contained different kinds of daffodils. I love this one that just opened.

I love how this snapdragon keeps showing itself.

This is what I have in various plantings and germination and seedling stage. Many are on their second plantings. Don't know where I'm gonna put it all. I think I might need to create another small garden - perhaps in the back of the house. Most of these come from fellow bloggers. Enlarge to see what is currently going that you may have sent. Several packs from other bloggers didn't make it the first round and they have been started again and a couple just didn't do at all before using all of the seeds. There are still more that haven't made into the seed start yet.

This is how the new porch garden is filling in now. The big mass you see to the right is Breadseed Poppies and a few more plants. There are Red Melon Poppies down to the other end.

Full Tide Iris is up. Sure hope all of the iris's bloom.

The blueberry bush is loaded. Enlarge and check them out.

Check out the cluster of peaches.
The pear tree is producing good but not like the peaches. Little pears.

WE NEED RAIN BAD. The fruit is going to affected by this drought we are currently experiencing. Seems the weather affects is every year with too much rain or not enough. I'm gonna hose them this weekend. It takes a lot of water to make a difference with fruit trees and then it may not be enough. I've been watering the flower gardens as the seedlings are starting to suffer a little. I have watered well over the past three days before adding a small of amount fertilizer. It has been since mid March since we have had any rain to amount to anything.
Thanks for visiting today. Hope you all can get out and enjoy your weekend.

Bloomin' Tuesday - Do you have pretty weeds?

Hope everyone is doing swell today. It's Tuesday and I am joining Jean over at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ and hope you go check out who else is a bloomin today.

Awesome azaleas.

I knew I had to get my yard cut this weekend. I couldn't coax anyone up to my place to do it for me. I bitched and whined about the grass being knee hi. So I had to hit the riding lawn mower and cut this 3 acres I have. I DID IT all by myself and it felt good to get it done. Now I am not so afraid of the mower. I think I am now ready for the lawn mower races. We have those kinda races here in the south. Can't say I've been to one but I think I am ready now. LOL
Anyway I decided that since I was going to cut down all of these pretty weeds then I was going to show you how pretty weeds can be. All of these are growing wild in my yard.
This one is actually a ground cover that blooms and they are all over my yard.

This one causes me to sneeze and have a runny nose.

I think this is a bloom from a blackberry vine. They are growing wild.

This one also will cause sneezing and runny nose.

Hope you are experiencing some really nice weather. Have a good afternoon Ya'll.

Fertilizer Friday - Happy Friday Everybody

Good morning fellow bloggers! It's Friday the day that we flaunt our little beauties growing in the gardens. Tootsie is our host and you should just head on over and check what others have to share today. Plus Tootsie is always busy doing something in the yard and home. She is just so crafty.

The yellow Violas are coming along nicely. They sure add life to the garden as the seedlings are taking root.

The Bridal Wreath is awesome this time of year. Does it remind you of the wedding bouquet? That is what I think of when I see it.

The azaleas are still opening up. Around my home they should be full in all their glorious colors by next week.

The dahlias are doing very good.

Zinnias - lots of them.

This is one of the Iris's. Yesterday as I was putting seedlings in the ground I saw this strand of plant and thought it was grass. Well it wasn't grass and I pulled up the bulb. It isn't harmed but I felt kinda sorry for the plant. Oh well it's all a learning experience - trial and error and lots of the last one. If I didn't have error then I wouldn't be trying - right.

Look how good the seedling slid right out of the cut off 2 ltr bottle I have used as plant containers. The mix of potting mix with the seed start proved to be a good blend.

Seedlings - Johnny Jump Ups Viola went into the ground yesterday. I planted a lot of seedlings to make room for more in trays. All of them were kinda small and young but they looked really healthy and rooted so I thought what the heck. I believe they will be just fine. I also put a lot of seedlings around some of the daffodils to fill in as they start to die off.
Buddy helped me to get up each time I sat on the ground. (yeah right) Yes I have to sit on the ground to put the babies in the ground now - but that's OK - I like the dirt and I am on Buddies level and he likes it.
Have a great weekend. Hope you are experiencing some really nice spring weather. We will be with temps in the low 70's and lows in the upper 40's. Blue skies with not a single white fluffy cloud in the sky.

Being Thankful

I just hate it when I start whining. So the opposite is gratefulness. I should stop the whining and be thankful for what I do have. I am thankful that my health is OK inspite of a few issues. I am thankful that I have a job even if I am only working 30 hrs a week. I am thankful that I have enough money to pay my immediate bills. I am thankful that my family is currently experiencing no immediate health issues. I am thankful for the rain today to water my new babies in the ground. I am thankful that my car is getting me where I need to go without any immediate issues. I am just thankful. God has blessed me.

Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don't already have everthing you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you the opportunities for improvment.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.

A Few of My Pretties

I've been sick again. Last week and again on Monday. This is getting too regular. I spent most of the day at the hospital yesterday. After running a slew of tests - I have stones in my gallbladder but that was not the root of my illness. Doctors determination was that I am having gastric problems. Had there been infection in my gallbladder they would have removed it yesterday. He has recommended that I go to my doctor at Victory Health (a not for profit facility created and run by doctors and volunteers who provide care to those who are employed but have no insurance). I hate going to the doctor these days. All it means to me is lost time at work that cannot be made up not to mention the cost to go the doctor. I feel like I am digging a hole and it is getting deeper. Sorry guys I hate to whine but that is where I'm at.

On another note I am about to give up on the idea of having a veggie garden. The area is tilled and cleaned. I just can't see me working it and keeping it up this year. I think it is getting to be too much. I am feeling old lately and whining a lot about my problems. I hate that I do that. ENOUGH of that.

Imagine my surprise and what a nice one it was yesterday when I came home from the hospital to step out to this little beauty. I am so happy that they are going to bloom since they were just planted in mid January. It was a good buy - $5 for 55 bulbs.
I was happy to see that this snapdragon was blooming. I love the colors - lavender and white. This one I planted last year and it has come back. yea!
The azaleas are about to burst open. The bushes are full and are beginning to open. The azaleas are on display in nearly everyone's yard here on the coast and along the streets.

The bridal wreath is stunning here. They are blooming everywhere.

Hope you all have a great day and good gardening.

The Doctors Office

After worrying so much about this test the doctor says 'it was all a mistake'. What! You see come to find out she said I should never have had a pap smear since I had my uterus removed back in the 80's and it wasn't due to cancer. The doctor said after the cervix is removed there is no chance of cancer to an organ that isn't there anymore. Pap smears are to detect cancer in the cervix. The pap smear abnormal cells were because of a bacterial and viral infection. I am so relieved that everything is good. Too bad I had to worry so but at least all is well.

Thank you ALL for your prayers and thoughts. I love all of you.

Medical Tests?

I'm going in for a biopsy today. Think about me and say a little prayer if you want.

Fertilizer Friday - Coming Up Green

Good morning everybody! It's that time again when we all get together to flaunt our flowers and fertilize those babies. Ya'll head on over to Tootsie's and check out her fine blog and see what she is doing in the Greenhouse. And I know you want to know who else is participating and flaunting their pretties.

It just so happens I don't really have much to share other than some green coming up here and there. All of my stuff is still in the seedling stage other than the color I purchased which are not shown today. They still look the same except for a ton of buds. I'll share next week. I fertilized them last Fri so they are really taking off.

My first art for the butterfly garden. I like the angel here and will be adding more angels.

Johnsons Blue Geranium is really happy here. That is snapdragons coming up - the wind caught some seeds. It's OK though maybe they'll flower.

Catherines Red Breadseed Poppies are really popping now. Take a look and that isn't all of them.

The last of the pear blossoms.

Me neighbor looks at me funny when I am outside with my camera. Especially when I am taking photos of the ground. He was laughing the other day when I was out taking pictures of the little ones coming up. That's a blogging gardener for you.

Weeds with flowers.

Different weed with flowers. Does it look like I am looking for stuff to post for Fertilizer Friday?
I've been hearing the birds singing and didn't realize they were so close. A birdnest inside the window screen. (Ya'll I am embarressed by the appearance of the outside of my house but I am hiring someone to power wash and paint it in the next 3 weeks.) I don't see any eggs in it. Can't figure how the momma bird thinks she is going to get those babies out of there.

I have lots of seeds sprouting. Yellow Okra Hibuscus, milkweed, forget me nots, purple balloon flower (all from Darla) and red melon poppies and foxglove from Tatyana, and sweet william double mixture, pansy, petunia, lettuce and cosmos. A few more that I cannot remember.

Some of these will be planted next weekend. Shasta Daisy and Johnny jump ups and sweet pea everlasting.

Awwwe another toy. The other arm is already gone. My sweet little Buddy.

Hope you have a great weekend.

This and That

I spent most of my weekend outdoors. I finally completed my full sun garden in my front. This is actually an enlargement of a garden I put down here last year - as you can see a few things already growing here.

My dilemma here is that I cannot afford to go purchase blocks for this garden like in the other one in the background. The pesky dog that had been visiting is not going to be around anymore so I don't have to worry about having the black rubber edging ripped up by a dog who knows no boundaries. I was thinking of just moving these blocks to my back yard area where I still have more new beds to put down. The front yard would blend better I think. Ya'll let me know what ya think.

I planted all of my bulbs and rhizomes I had purchased and direct sow some seeds here. I planted the iris's in the bed behind this one. Here I have dahlias, phlox and clematis and from last year there are cannas.

Well the insurance reform act and Obama's health care plan has been signed. I am one of the ones who are suppose to benefit from this. I have no health care and I am employed. My employer does not provide any options for health care coverage. I really do not have a clue what all of this is about and though I have read some of it and have listened to the highlights I still don't know when and how it will affect me.
I am about to purchase me some insurance though. My hope is that my pre-existing conditions will be covered and that I think is much of the insurance problems. I know that the new plan is suppose to block insurance companies from excluding pre-existing conditions.
I recently had a pap smear that has come back with abnormal cells. The doctor who performed the procedure is a clinic I go to for working people who have no insurance. They provide a great service by charging a fee based on income and also by providing services like labs and so forth at a discounted fee. Cost is much less than if I had insurance AND they also provide some of my meds straight from their personal pharmacy for free. OK the abnormal pap - the doctor is wanting me to go to another clinic for further testing. Here I am with no insurance and could be facing mounting medical bills. I am thinking if I don't go for further testing till after I obtain insurance then maybe they will pay for it because I have not been seen or treated for anything abnormal. Give me some feedback blogging friends.
We are expecting some really nice weather for the rest of the week with hi's around 70 and low's in the 50's.
Not really much going in my world. Guess that's a good thing. Hope you all have a wonderful day and that everyone receives some sunshine.
