I have no idea what I am going to make yet, but I want to play along. Want something handmade/homemade from me? Leave a comment on this post.
Pay It Forward -- The Rules:

1. Be one of the first THREE bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which then entitles you to a handmade item from me - something crafty or yummy, who knows?!

2. Winners must post this challenge on their own blog, meaning that you will Pay It Forward, creating a handmade gift -anything!- for the first three bloggers who leave a comment on YOUR post about this giveaway!

3. The gift that you send to your three friends can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts. And, remember: It’s the spirit and the thought that count!

4. When you receive your gift, please feel free to blog about it, sharing appropriate linky love! If you are not one of the top three comments on this post, you can still play along. Go ahead and start your own Pay It Forward chain, and encourage your blogging friends to do the same!

SO REMEMBER... Pay It Forward!

Working with gardening on my mind....

A day like today on the Gulf Coast makes one just mad to be setting at a desk. The skies are the bluest blue, not a single cloud, and a balmy 62 degrees. Nature is calling. I feel the need to dig in the dirt. Instead I must work. Afterall so many people who want to work cannot find a job. OK - so planning what I am going to do - will have to do for today.

My first spot for my first garden in my yard - as stated on another posting will be around a pecan tree. I expect this area to be about a 10 x 10 garden. I want to have plenty of colors. Looking at Springhill Nursery spring catalog these are my picks: phlox - pink, hollyhocks - pink and white, vinca, begonia, blue aster and daisy. I can't wait to see my garden take shape and how pretty. I'll take pictures when I get me a good camera.

Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as paint, and the soil and sky as canvas.

And there were scraps....

After such a rainy weekend it was good to see the sun peek back out. Even though it rained - I was able to make a compost bin. It is small - approx 3.5 x 3 .5 at the base. To begin with I have coffee grounds, orange peels, egg shells, onion and celery scrap, leaves and a little soil on top. The compost should not contain any meats or cooked/prepared foods. It's really hard to believe that all this scrap will make such a rich mixture for the gardens.

In the beginning...

Planning a garden is work too. But fun. I have scouted the spot for the first garden in my yard. I live on 4 acres and all is landscaped but no flower beds. The first garden will be in the back yard around a pecan tree. This area receives 6-8 hours of sun each day. I am working on the plant selection and the layout.

The Fruit...

Gorgous day on the coast. Sunny, 70 degrees and little breezy. I just love it.
No gardening yet. The fruit trees are budding out pretty. Plenty of flowers on the peach tree as well as the pear tree. Blueberries are beginning to bud. It sure seems early to me for them to have so many flowers.

A Moment...

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

No dirt this weekend. Just the leaves. However I did purchase seeds and supplies. The peach trees have buds on them and a few are opening up. The pear tree is beginning to show signs of spring too. The blueberry bush is still bare.
