Buddy and My Veggies

Buddy said, "let me out. No I'm not going to roll in the dirt. Dirt may jump up on me. I want to know if my blogger buddies have to go thru this. My skin tingles. Let me out." Needless to say he did not go out till he was dry.

Soon I'll be making blueberry cobbler. The bush is loaded.
There were about 10-12 hills that did not come up. So I bought filler plants. This is collards. I know they are a cold weather plant - but Walmart had them for sale and they were new arrivals. We'll see. It looks healthy.

I think these beans have the prettiest flower. The bushes are loaded with flowers. Beans should soon appear.

Beans on the left and okra on the right. On the other side of the okra are some watermelon plants. They aren't growing very fast. I am sure they are not getting enough sun. I planted 3 more watermelon plants last week as filler plants. These are in a sunnier spot of the garden.

Squash on the right. This weekend I worked my butt off. I pulled grass, hoed, pulled dirt around the stems to sturdy them and fertilized everything. My everything was sore yesterday.

This might be all I'm gonna get from these pears. Seems neither of my fruit trees produce anything etable.

Why do these peaches have this STUFF on them and what is it? It is thick and sort of solid. It is all over the peaches.

This is as big as they are gonna get I suppose.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Buddy is a sweetie. I guess we all have that battle with our dogs when we bathe them! Your garden is looking good. Sure makes me hungry to think about all my favorites. We had a friend who would let us pick blueberries and I loved to make muffins.
I hope your soreness improves soon. I've been weeding the flowers and my EVERTHING is sore too!

P.S. Harriet sends a smooch to Buddy!

Buddy is a cutie.Your garden is doing so well and I cannot believe how big the peaches are already.

He's a cutie! I've never owned a dog! My friend raises these adorable chihuahuas (she had some yappy one too!) and I really think the long haired ones are adorable. My grandkids have one.

I can't believe your garden. Nothing is in the ground here - it still snowed yesterday - but it is melting and sinking into the ground nicely.

Sorry I don't know what that is on your peaches. Your garden looks great!

Hi Becca. That Buddy sure is sweet (what would we do without them)! My problem with Angelina isn't at bath time. It's those darn burrs (from the clover in May). Her hair is so fine, that everything stick to it. And her long plume of a tail is really like a broom. I'll be glad when burr season is over (and so will my sweetheart).

Your "new" watermelon looks like it's at the same stage as mine. I planted 5 different kinds (one white, two orange, and two red). It's only been about 70F here, so things are a little slow. Plus we haven't had rain in 6 weeks.

I'm not sure what's up with your peaches, but the rest of your garden looks smashing. All that hard work is really showing.

My schnauzers have to run all over the house and roll on the carpet...up on the bed....go crazy after a bath....I found cute little bathrobes for them at Petsmart for 2.99 each...it helps soak up the water till I get the blow dryer out...they both love the blow dryer...my outside dogs...as soon as they get bathed the roll all in the grass and dirt and usually look worse after their bath till they get dry....crazy dogs...love your garden...

So weird, your garden is so in bloom. Like I'd have to get in a time machine to have what you have and go forward about 4-6 weeks.
I like about a cup of bluberries in a peach cobbler. Yum. You and Buddy should both go roll in the grass.

Your garden is looking so great! No wonder you're sore, that's a lot of work.
Buddy is so cute. Our Chelsea has been digging in our garden since we put down some compost. Bad dog!

We have that sap on our peach tree too, I believe it's called bacterial canker infection, I'm still researching about it. Your veggie garden looks great!

I'm intrigued to know if you eat all your squash or do you preserve some?

Great looking garden, Becca. I wish we had some fruit trees here. Peaches and pears sound soooo great. I have a banana tree but it isn't doing anything. Oh, well. I love reading your blog and watching your garden's progress.

Buddy looks far too innocent to roll in the dirt!
It looks like you've been working hard. You're going to have lots to eat soon!
Sorry about the pears and peaches. It's disappointing I'm sure, but they still look pretty in bloom. My pear trees look like they won't have pears either this year.

Yours is was one of those blogs where I could not post. It looks as if Blogger has fixed it by putting in a little dropdown menu.

Buddy does look quite innocent! I didn't read the other comments, so I hope you got an answer about the peach problem. Your gardens are looking great!

Poor Buddy, wanting to roll..and he is white! Sometimes it is so hard to keep their white looking white! Your garden is beautiful! I have no idea what is on your peaches, but hope you find out..fruit trees are sometimes a real bother..lots of spaying maintence etc.. I don't like the spraying part..but sometimes that is the only way you can get a crop. Your blueberries look really yummy! :)

Hi Becca and thank you for your kind words! 4 years ago, when Julik started to slow down we took another pup, Amur (on my blog's header picture). Mostly, for our boys, to provide a smooth transition... It helps us ,too. Although, the new dog can not beat Julik. That one was special, very loyal, he was my shadow, my tail as we used to say. I'm sorry about Sam and glad that Buddy makes you happy! Thanks again!

My dog always finds a way to roll in something dead or my alltime favorite: deer poo...right after having a bath. Buddy is right on par with our fruit-loop dog! LOL
Nice pics!
