Heart Scare

Well - I had a big ole scare last night. I got real dizzy and passed out cold at home - alone. Don't have any idea how long I lay there before I came to - but Buddy was right by my side. I managed to get to the phone to call 911. My blood pressure had bottomed out at 50/30. I was so out of it - confused and very scared. I spent the night at the hospital. They don't know at this point what caused it. I will be having a calcium score test tomorrow and then don't know what's next. I do not know anything about this test/procedure. I will be asking a lot of questions tomorrow at the cardioligist. I do take a small handful of meds including high blood pressure meds. My pressure has always been on the high side and at times on 2 different meds but currently only one. The doctor has suspended the blood pressure meds for now. I see my primary care doctors on Monday.

Let me say this about Mr Obama's health care plan proposal. I am one of the ones he is speaking of in his speech. I have no insurance. I have a few pre existing conditions that BCBS would exclude so why should I pay high premiums only to have my illnesses denied. I am not an Obama fan but he sure gave a good speech. Anyway I just wanted share that.

Keep me in your prayers as I go thru these tests hopefully to discover what caused this episode. It is bad to not know.

One more note - My grandson 11 yrs old has strep and swine flu combined. Keep him in your prayers too.

Becca,
My thoughts are with you and your grandson.
And I think it's really great when people can see that healthcare reform is about making sure normal people don't go bankrupt from a serious illness, as opposed to just a partisan issue or an issue only relevant to poor people on welfare.

My word! Hoping for a speedy recovery for both of you.

I hope you and your grandson are both well soon. I hope that you'll soon be able to find an affordable health insurance.

Your recent post with the chicken pot pie inspired me to make one, too. I didn't use a quart of cream, though, just the kind of pie I've always made, with an oil pastry crust and lots of veggies. I ate the leftovers for lunch one day this week and then realized how OLD this pie was. It was still tasty.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that honey...dang girl hope everything is okay. I do understand you medical because that is me too however I am NOT a fan of obama or his health plan because it is not designed to help us..it is designed to help the illegal aliens in this country! We need to take care of our own first before everybody else and right now he is just opening the gates to let all in and taking care of them first .. not us! He has too much flying in under the radar too..
I do feel your pain big time!

That is just CrAzY! How scary to be alone and have something like that happen! I'm praying for you. I hope all will be okay. Your blood pressure dropped amazingly low--dangerously low! Get better soon. Hugs to you.

I hope your Doctors are able to get to the bottom of your problems but I am somewhat cynical now with my lyme Disease experience and what i have learn't about the controversy and cover up that has been going on and bye the way heart problems are a well documented symptom of lyme so make sure you consider that in your research.

I wish you and your grandson speedy recoveries.

Hoping all goes well for you....... as a Canadian I consider myself very fortunate to have free health care( paid with our taxes)......it may not be perfect but can't imagine having a serious health issue and paying out of hand for medical care....

How very scary for you. Hopefully all will work out well for you and your Grandson both. We'll be saying a prayer for both of you for a speedy recovery.

I hope what happened is something that is easily remedied.

The health care mess needs to be fixed and I don't know what the answer is. My husband and I are self-employed and we are in our '50's and pay $2000 a month for health insurance. But, I'm afraid to let it go. Sigh.

Get better, and please keep us posted.

Oh Becca, I'm so sorry. Hope they can find what caused your black-out.

BCBS denied me once also due to pre-existing conditions.. BUT--somehow we got through it.

I am definitely for healthcare reform--especially getting rid of the 'pre-existing' condition problems. BUT--there are ways to hopefully do something without going farther and farther in debt as a country. That's scary also.

Keep us posted..
Hugs and Prayers,
Betsy

Hey, Very scary..I hope the tests show something..dehydration..low potassium..something that can easily be fixed. I will add you and your grandson to my prayer list..every little prayer helps!
When I was in the hospital back in July ..that 24 hour stay was 10,000 ..very very expensive. :(

Becca, you and your grandson will be on my prayers. I pray that you have "just a scare" with a minor problem which can be adjusted and full recovery for your grandson.
Due to my husband and daughter's incurable health problems, I have read and studied H.R. 3200. I am solidly against it, but solidly for reform which includes portability and coverage for pre existing conditions.
Prayers going up from Georgia.
