Come on Fall

This is what I'm hoping for:

The morns are meeker than they were,

The nuts are getting brown;

The berry's cheek is plumper,

The rose is out of town.

The maple wears a gayer scarf,

The field a scarlet gown.

Lest I should be old-fashioned,

I'll put a trinket on.

Emily Dickinson

Nature XXVII, Autumn.

I think I'm trying to push this summertime weather we are still having out of the picture. I mean give it up already - I'm tired of these 90 something days and want some more seasonable temps. I love to open my doors in the evening to the quiet sounds of fall and it is just so pleasant. I could plant some mums if it wasn't so hot. Rain well we haven't had any in a long while now. I've done a rain dance but it isn't working - maybe because I danced to Stevie Nicks. I love Stevie.

Not much going on in my world. Not feeling very wordy today so this is it.

Becca I am not looking forward to winter one bit. The heat I can handle with no problem but the cold I cannot. The cool evenings are already getting to me. :-) Diane

Becca, I love Emily Dickinson, she always know how to say it so that the regular person can understand what she is talking about.

Hi Becca. What a lovely Fall poem. I bet you are getting tired of all of the hot weather. We cooled down but are so dry here.I have not been too wordy lately either. I think it is because I am dreading winter coming already even before Fall starts. It is a downer for me when the flowers start to fade away. I like the long daylight days and sunshine.
Have a good week!

You are soooo right. I am out watering some hydrangeas right now. We have had some cooler mornings, but just like you, we are having 90 degree afternoon temps and no extremely dry.

Hi Becca! Thanks for following my blog, I am now following you too! Your post is amusing, I do understand you wanting cooler temperatures. But I try to hold on to summer as long as I can!. Fall is well on it's way here in Ohio along with the cool temperatures. I try my hardest to enjoy fall but it's sooo hard sometimes because of the impending winter. I do love the pretty colors fall has to offer, it makes for easy decorating!

Lovely poem, Becca. Come on up to Ohio. It feels like fall here. I hate to see summer go.

Hope you have a nice weekend!

I love Stevie too, if anyone could do a good rain dance it would be her :)
I'd love to have some of your weather. We've had such different summers. I always love watching the colors change in fall. Love the poem too.

I love fall, with the cooler temperatures and changing leaves. I don't like what comes after fall.

Thank you for popping over to my site the other day and becoming one of my followers. I used to work in accounting too... I was a Systems Accountant, so it was more about systems control, than actual books... Now I'm a stay at home mum... I always stumble, when people ask me what I do now... Anyhoo, I'm with you on the whole summer thing... I need it to be gone... I'm over it... it's just started cooling down here and it feels great to be able to hide my toes once more. Have a great weekend. Lx

I can't wait for the first day that I can turn off the AC and open up all the windows and feel a nice cool breeze through the house...
