I'm a Sewing and Have Some Blooms

Good Morning. I heard on the weather report today that a lot of people are not having a good day today or for the next couple of days, weatherwise that is. Terrible - record setting snow for you guys up north. I hate it. Here we are socked in with fog this morning and expecting severe weather this afternoon as a cold front pushes in. Today the highs in the upper 60's and tomorrow the upper 40's.

Saturday on the other hand was a beautiful day with temps of around 70 and these pretty blue skies. So you know what I did...

I got out into the gardens and did a little spruce up. The leaves were several inches thick but I left some in to protect seedlings coming up - that is if there is anything other than the weeds. I hesitate to pull some of them up because they could be a flowering plant. I check the grass to see if I see lots of the same thing growing there. Then out they go.

I found my Blue Hyancinth blooming. It sure isn't as pretty as it was last year blooming in my house. But look at it there are 4 babies from this one bulb.

Dianthus is beginning to think it's spring.

Last year I planted these shasta daisy's from a seedling I started indoors. It never bloomed but it has stayed green most of the winter. I'm hoping for some blooms this year or I'll pull them out.

Snapdragons taking on buds.

Dusty Miller is so hardy. Last year they were so big in this garden I think that I'll be moving a couple of them.

Budding on the hydrangea.

Blueberries taking on buds.

Peach tree is taking on buds.

This is what it looks like this morning. Got my umbrella for today.

I got rid of this...

....for this. I fried chicken, cooked potatos for mashed potatos and french cut green beans and Pillsbury French Bread Roll. Hey if you haven't tried this bread - you need to. It is so good and is nice to have something different. I was able to cook on three burners - four if I needed it. I'm so happy with it.

I was excited to finally sew and I completed one kitchen curtain panel. I think I did pretty well. Oh by the way I shared 2 patterns curtain patterns with you and guess what - there is no pattern for making curtains. I winged on these and I think they turned out nice. I was short on fabric so I improvised with the 4" piece on the top to give it more in length. The new machine sews good I've just got to get used to the way it sews with these fancy presser foot and how it pulls the fabric so fast. Anyway I love it. And right now I am needing this distraction from some other personal family stuff going on right now. I could use a few more prayers as some of this is so difficult to handle. My heart is broken.

I hope you have a great day today.

Today I'm thankful that I have a lot to do at work.

I'm jealous of your blooms already. We are experiencing really icy cold weather this week. Oh well, time for cocoa!

Blooms and Sewing! I am soooo jealous! We're going to have ice ice ice here, so alas no time for sewing, there is talk of power going out, yikes!

My bulbs are up but none have bloomed. I can't believe you already have blooms. I hope the cold snap doesn't hurt them.

I love the red and white checked curtains.

Love the photo of the blue sky- that's what it looked like here in Redmond, OR last week! Now we have fog and the temps have dropped dramatically. I'm hoping the temps will go back up soon so I can continue to get some early stuff done out there :)

Happy Gardening to you,

Tessa

Your curtain panel turned out great. If you don't tell people you were short on fabric, the red at the top looks like you meant to do that.

I haven't even gotten out to look at my flower beds. I doubt that anything is budding out yet but one never knows. After all, plants have a schedule all their own.

Hi Becca. Girl your curtain is beautiful. I like the fabric on the top. I think it makes the curtain. Great job. You do have a lot of green coming on. Do Not pull up your daisies! It takes two years for some perennials to bloom when they are started from seed. You should get a few blooms this year. Hon you are in my prayers. Hang in there time takes care of most things in life. Hugs.

I'm happy for you that you got to spend time in your garden. Seeing your new growth makes me excited for a new spring.

I love your curtains. The panels look like they were meant to be there.

It's fun to try out new appliances, isn't it, and good to have everything working?

I'm with Lona, don't pull the daisies out yet. (My eyes landed on her comment. I didn't look to see if anyone else said that.) ;o)

Looks like a fine stove to me, as far as stoves go..I would like one that prepares and cooks food all by itself! That is a great looking curtain, very cheerful!

Hope your family problems straighten out sooner than later..yes I am sending you a prayer:)

Since we're in the middle of a record breaking blizzard for Missouri I'm very jealous of your blooms. :-)
I do love the curtain panel!!! It would look so cute at my kitchen window!!!!!
So sorry to hear of your family problems.. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. You have always been there for me the past few months and I really do appreciate the support you gave. If there is anything I can do or say just let me know. Sending you BIG HUGS and WARM WISHES!

Sounds like it is a hive of activity at your place. I wish I could see what is shooting up in my French garden but this will not happen until the end of March :( Take care, Diane

My prayers are with the people who are being hit by that terrible storm. Here in SoCal we are sunny and 70 degrees. I love the photo in your header.

The curtains are adorable. You did a beautiful job.

Boy can I ever relate to the fog. Here in Northern CA, it seemed like it was never going to go away but I don't want to complain because our Mid-West neighbors are having a tuff time right now with the ice-storms and snow. My little bit of fog is nothing.
Have a great week! Sue
P.S. Can't wait to see how your garden progresses this season.

Becca, it is good to see something pretty and perky. The curtins look great. We are in the middle of a blizzard so I need lots of eye candy.

Your green shoots are balm to my soul - so lovely to see signs of growth. It's still a long haul to that stage here in Scotland.

Becca,

That Hyacinth is nice and so early. Looks like your weeks ahead of us here in NC. We do have crocus blooming, yet the Hyacinths are not showing even yet. I really miss the aroma of Hyacinths in bloom.

Congrats on getting the new stove. It's nice to be able to cook on all of the burners, isn't it????

You really are having some Spring down there, aren't you? We are still into winter here--with snow last night and a low temp of about 15 degrees this morning... Yipes!!!!

Thanks for showing us your spring buds.

what a great post loved your picture of spring flowers atrting to show their faces, in Australia if we have fogg in the morning it heralds a crisp sunny day, the fog burns off is 9am to 10am.

Sewing is a great pastime and very therapeutic.

I am envious of your blooms - we are still miles away from even seeing the soil.
