Mostly Pink

For some reason I gravitate to the pinks and purples. I have to consciously think and look for yellows and whites. Yellow and white is what makes a garden pop with color. So this past weekend I went shopping specifically for white and yellow.

I have never seen dianthus in white before. It is really going to look good in the gardens. I didn't buy enough of it. Hope Walmart has some left when I go on Friday. Really, I need to find somewhere else that has more variety than Walmart. I have some plants on my wish list so I need to find them somewhere. Do you have a wish list too?

The lemon yellow marigolds look good with the purples of the daisy's.

I added some soil around the snapdragons since the animals decided that was a good place to hide or hunt for a pecan. They are resilient though and are springing back already. Those are the prettiest flowers on the new verbena next to the snapdragons. Wish I'd bought more. It is shown in another photo here today.

I couldn't resist the purple white eye verbena. The flowers look like velvet it is so soft.

I had to have these Strawberry dianthus. They are so full of buds.

This is my favorite of the geraniums. The prettiest pink flower.

This dianthus from last year is really putting on a show here. I love that they don't mind the cold winters and come back a blazing in the spring.

This is the first bloom on this dianthus. I think it is called 'picotee pink'.

This is the verbena sitting next to the snapdragons. Such a pretty shade of pink.

The bougainvilla is about bloomed out for now. Most of the blooms fell with the strong winds we had Monday night.

The azaleas are also about gone. This was taken on Saturday but it is already looking ragged now.

Little nip in the air this morning. We have a cool 40 degrees but is warming to the mid 70's today.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Very pretty Becca....the dianthus and verbena divide and or root very easily..don't fret if the store doesn't have anymore.

I guess I gravitate towards yellows, pinks, and purples. White not so much. Lowes has a good plant sale starting on the 7th. I think we trimmed 50 shrubs Saturday and I am taking this weekend off from plants!
You have fun.

Things really are popping in your garden Becca. Love your pink verbena. I can't seem to keep it here through the winter. Maybe they don't like the rain - and who can blame them I don't like it either. Those Strawberry Parfaits? really do put on a show with their big bright blooms and so many of them. You have some serious Azaleas blooming there. WoW it's beatiful!!!

Ewww, you know you won me with that Raspberry Ripple geranium. So pretty. I love all of the different Dianthus you got planted Becca. I have a white one but it only blooms once so I am not thrilled with her. LOL! I think the pinks and burgundy's you have going on in your bed is just beautiful.

I just love looking at the photos of all your different plants! Like you, I always gravitate to blues and purples and pinks. I don't really like yellow, but I have put in some white, which actually looks quite good. That is such a pretty pink geranium. I wonder which variety it is? I have never seen it before, but it's gorgeous.

I am the same way, nearly all pinks, from blush to magenta and bluey purples. I do have some white to offset it, but aside from some bush daisies in pots I forego the yellow... Just don't have enough room :)

I am lucky as far as having a nursery very near me that always has whatever you could imagine. I'd suggest maybe making a special purpose trip once a year to a good nursery so you can find some variety... even a little goes a long way.

Hi Becca,
Wow your garden looks great, so much in bloom! I love pink and purple too:-) Your bougainvilla is gorgeous, not warm enough here, I see them in the nursery to grow as an annual, but I don't think thy fair well even as that, besides they are expensive! Loved seeing yours:-)
Hugs,
Bella

HI Becca, We started out cold this morning also --but warmed up nicely... I took my inside plants outside this afternoon. I have been 'wintering' them inside--so I know they will love to feel the breeze and sunshine.

Your flowers/shrubs/bushes are ALL gorgeous... Speaking of pinks, we have more pink roses than any other color. Wonder why that is??????? I do love the yellows this time of year though.
Hugs,
Betsy

Dianthus has beome the workhorse of my garden. I love it in white. I will definitely have to look for some. I agree, Walmart is not the best for variety. When I want something new I usually pay the extra at my local independent nursery. My favorite place of inspiration and wish list.

You have so many pretty flowers Becca! I love them all. I like your bougainvillea too. In fact, I think I have a similar one. Mine, all its leaves and flowers will just drop when the rain persist. Now the bush is growing back some leaves and flowers.
