Cottage Flora Thursdays and Fertilizer Friday

I'm joining Fishtail Cottage for Cottage Flora Thursday's and Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday. So happy to find some blooms this morning so I could join you gardeners.

I was not impressed with the pentas when I first put them in the ground earlier this year but they are proving to be a wonderful performer. Tolerating our varying weather conditions from dry to too wet to the extreme heat we've had this year. I definately want more of this next year. I also love that they mound.

After clearing away some plants from in front of the geraniums they are giving me a few more blooms. This one is so hard to photograph and appears bright. I have to admit that from the road this one is easy to spot.

The okra hibuscus are not nearly as big as last year but I smile big when I can catch one blooming. Have to catch them early in the day because by the time I get home today this will be a memory.

The dahlias are blooming sporadically this year. They are not so happy with the weather. They are not happy when it is so hot and often times dry. I am needing some rain. Though it has rained a good bit I haven't had any in the past 8-10 days.
This is Bill McKnight Dahlia.

The beautiful Rose of Sharon is gorgeous. But they are like the okra hibuscus in that this will be a memory when I get home today. They are very tolerant of the varying weather conditions. I'm planning on moving both of the ones I have. As you can see the plant is still small standing only about 15".

I hope you all have a wonderful day and great weekend.

Just want to say that I appreciate all of you blogging buddies. It's a good feeling when I can get on here and share things with you and you all are right there rallying for me and praying for me. It also feels good when I just feel like complaining and you cheer me up. You remind me that I am not alone. I love you all.

Just and FYI my son has moved back to the area 30 miles from me and that is nice to have one of my kids near me. May not be for long - depends on finding a new job. He lost his job and housing when he was admitted to the hospital. I'm thankful that he was able to move into the home owned by his dad. He and the bitch witch are divorcing. Thank you for your prayers.

Your flowers look good despite the lack of rain Becca. I do hope your son continues to regain his emotional and physical strength as he walks this challenging path in life.

Oh Becca you do make me laugh even though it is really so sad. You appear to keep your sense of humour despite all.
You amaze me that you know all your plants by name, I have a patch of really pretty flowers that have come up from a mixed packet and I only know one or two of them. As long as they are pretty I do not worry too much!! Take care thinking of you. Diane

Beautiful flowers, Becca! The Rose of Sharon reminds me of a pretty sunburst. ;)

Thanks for visiting and for your sweet comment. I would love to have you join me for my weekly linky party, as well. The party link just went up last night. By the way, I just became your newest follower.

It will be nice for you to have your son so close. I hope things work out for him. Your blooms are so cheerful. Every year I say I'm going to get some pentas - they are so pretty around here - but ever year I talk myself out of it, thinking they would not live through the winter. Are yours perennial or an annual for you?

It's good that you'll have your son close by, Becca. I hope things work out for him for a new job and place to live again soon.

Your flowers are very pretty today.

This has been a difficult year for my flower bed and the roses have not been happy. Love the bright flowers you have. Glad your son is better.

Your flowers are looking beautiful, but I'm sure like you they would appreciate a good rain. It's still cool here, but no real rain for awhile so I've been having to drag hoses around.

Hi Becca Sweetie...
What a beautiful and scented post this evening. I love the flowers, as they are so elegant and inviting all of themselves. Love the okra hibiscus, I have never seen one before. The color is lemon heaven for sure. Just beautiful as is your dahlia. How pretty the two mixed colors are. You have a gorgeous green thumb.

This is the Miracle Weekend makeover. I am one of the hosting sites. For every comment left, Guideposts magazine will pay a dollar, to the next cancer makeover patient. Please stop by and read the story about 9 year old Charlie, and bless me with a comment. Out goal between the 4 or 5 blogs is 5,000. I know we can do it. I would appreciate it, if you pass the word around to as many friends as possible.

Thank you sweetie for a wonderful post. I love it. Have a glorious weekend. Country hugs from Phoenix, Sherry

Now I'm going to have to try pentas, it looks like an interesting plant. Your garden looks wonderful considering the lack of rain. I love dahlias too, but haven't planted any. You've given me ideas for next year.

Nice post. I can never get it together for these Blooming Posts. Glad your son is getting over his.........illness? Ha ha. My son has had some bad girlfriends but no marriages yet. Funny how old our kids get, yet we never stop worrying about them.

They look good and the Pentas sounds interesting, I've never heard of it before, probably because they would hate Sottish summers (especially this extra wet one).

The okra Hibiscus is lovely something never seen before...... Glad your son is closer and hope things are on the upswing for him soon.
