Busy Weekend And...

So Worth It. Just a warning - this is a long post so I'll try not to be too wordy.

My baby sister came into town to surprise us with a visit. Teri lives in Salem Oregon and flew down to Palm Beach CA and drove from there to Mobile. Gotta love sis as this is something I would do.

This is both of my sisters. Teri is on the left and Bonnie on the right. I am in the middle and the oldest. We set out on Friday to spend the day together. We had a great time laughing and enjoying just being together and being just sisters. The photo is taken at Zeke's Landing in Orange Beach AL.

I spent Saturday going grocery shopping and purchasing plants. Actually shopping is so much more fun when I'm buying new plants. Actually every single weekend is spent mixing potting mix and black cow and buying plants. It's a busy time of year.

My first succulent. I fell in love with the container and plant at Walmart.

I purchased a new camera. Didn't know GE made a camera. It's a 16 megapixel. I'm still learning how to use it.

The rest of the photos were taken with the new camera.

Some of these plants were planted in the last 2 weeks. But on Saturday we dug 55 holes for 55 new plants. Yes I was worn completely out but not before we had grilled rib eye steak, baked potato and cole slaw. A tired but productive day.

The new begonia is taking off and has grown a lot in the past 2 weeks.

I've never had much luck with gerbera daisy's but I'm hopeful this year.

Salvia is taking off. This was just a small clump last year when I transplanted it from another garden.

Snapdragons are one of my favorite plants and flowers. They usually do very well in my gardens and many times they are happy to return from the previous year.

This year I ordered plants from Harvest Garden Supply. I was so pleased with how they arrived and how quick they arrived when the company said it would ship. The plants looked so healthy. The company packaged in such a manner that they stayed moist and didn't crowd out any other plants. I will definitely order from them again.

I purchased two delphiniums. This one is Cherry Blossom and the other is Sky Blue.

Three dahlias are up that I purchased from My Garden Colors. I will definitely order from them again. I ordered Dahlia Park Record and Dahlia Penny Lane. Three of each came and 5 out of six are up.

Astilbe planted earlier in the season has buds and is growing nicely.

More dahlias coming up.

I was just about to take this purse to Goodwill when I thought - oh wait this calling for a flower. I planted begonia, dusty miller and vinca's together.

Star Burst Ice Plant from Lowe's.

Monarda Fire Ball Red from Garden Harvest.

Dianthus from Lowe's.

Planted 16 dianthus and 16 short zinnia's.

This is Autumn Blush Coreopsis from Garden Harvest.

Coreopsis Jethro Tull.

The leaves on this foxglove are big and stunning however if I don't get a flower this year it will be gone. This is the third year in the ground with no flowers yet.

Jewel of the Desert Garnet Ice Plant (delosperma) from Garden Harvest. Also have Jewel of the Desert Peridot.

Pink Mist Scabisosa.

Butterfly Blue Scabiosa.

Gazania Kiss from Lowe's.

Lania Verbena from Lowe's.

Delphinium Summer Nights from Lowe's.

Yellow Gerbera Daisy's from Lowe's.

Yarrow has spread a lot and now is budding out.

Triple blooming daffodil.

Oops couldn't delete these two duplicates.

There is still lots more going on in my busy gardens but I will share more in the next post.

Hope you have a fabulous Monday.

You will love succulents-ignore them and they do wonderfully. I have eight or nine different ones and divide them all over the place. I first got snapdragons last year and they do great here too-bloomed some of the winter and multiplied like crazy. If you do anything with the new camera learn about white balance-it makes a huge difference in your photos. Your flowers are looking fabulous-happy Monday, Olive

Great post Becca ~ Lovely photo of you and your two sisters, glad you had a good time together.

Look at all of those bloomers in your gardens. Just wait until they grow and fill out with more blooms.

Happy gardening and congrats on the new camera. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Hugs ~ FlowerLady

P.S. Thanks for the prayers.

Wow! That's a lot of plants!
The only new plants I have bought so far this Spring are Marigolds. However, the plan for tomorrow is to set up my pole bean trellis, and get started with veggies!
Happy Gardening!
