Vegetable Garden and Chicks

The heat has taken its toll on the vegetable garden. The veggies have been waterlogged and then no rain for sometime now. I forget how long it's been since we had a rain. I tried to save it by watering but nothing is making now.

The blueberries are doing very well despite lack of rain. They are big and juicy.

The chicks have gone to live at my mom's. I do not have the ability to build me a coop by myself and I have no one else who could build it for me. Anyway they will be fine and I will visit them.

Hope everyone has a great garden day and stay hydrated.

We were doing great with rain daily for a while and then 4 days with NONE. I have the sprinklers running now as I had planted 20 crape myrtles a few weeks back and they need some juice!
Good luck...perhaps a rain dance?

I wish we could just get one good rain a week and we would be good. I hate your veggies have dried up.....ugh! All that rain, and now nothing. But it is June, which means dry as a bone for us here....maybe we will pull through and not lose too many plants

Staying hydrated me and the plants is a full time job right now!

Wish we could send some of our little showers down to you. We get them most every day --and just enough to water the flowers... Sorry you haven't gotten any rain lately, Becca.

Well--at least you will have some great blueberries.
Hugs,
Betsy

There's always something with us gardeners Too wet too dry too hot too cold but in the end it can never be too nice just a bit too tireing.

I don't know about in the US, but here, if you have the money and want to spend it that way, you can buy a coop made up. The English ones are expensive though so they might be where you are too.

We have the opposite problem here this spring: too much rain and clouds, not enough sun and heat. !! Hope the chicks will like living with our mom. She'll still give you their eggs, right?

Sorry to hear about your plants. It can be so frustrating dealing with the weather. I hope you get a good rain.

It's so interesting to see a southern garden so far along when mine is just beginning. Sorry it's been so hot. And sorry you couldn't keep your chicks. I got six this year too, but it is a big job making a home for them that is safe from predators. My husband has been working on it every weekend for three weeks.

We have been getting inundated with rain lately. With the rain, heat and humidity, it almost feels like I'm back in N.O.

I hope the rain makes it to you soon.

Becca, I am envious of the veggies you were able to gather for your post before this. I have gathered nothing yet...just drooling everyday at the tiny green tomatoes, squash blooms and pepper buds.
It is getting dry and I guess time to mulch and continue to water.
Cheers to ya from Georgia.

So sorry to hear about your garden. Don't you water on a regular basis? I guess cross country the watering is different. I hope you get some rain very soon and that you can visit your chicks often.

We had too much rain and now it is hot and dry. The plants in the garden are huge, but so far are not producing much fruit. (hopefully I am just being impatient) The lettuce bolted from the heat but the goats still loved it!
