Bloomin' Tuesday

Good Tuesday morning blogging buddies. Today is the day we all get together over at Jeans to share what's blooming in our gardens. Head on over to Jeans at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ to see who else has somthing blooming.

I purchased a couple more plants this weekend. I love this pot with these beautiful babies. I love coleus and have no idea why I have none in my gardens. Help me out here - what is the red flower.

I love vincas almost as much as begonias. They tolerate dry and hot conditions very well here. I only purchased 2 this weekend. A light pink and a darker pink.

This basil smells so good. Makes my want to cook some spaghetti. I have never used fresh herbs before so this will be a new experience.

Parsley

Jasmine is growing very well. And yes it smells good. Hurt my knees getting down that close.

These zinnias have not stopped blooming all year.

Well look at this. I finally grew some peaches that are so good. This is my first eatable peaches. They are juicy and sweet. I did the happy dance when I cut them open and tasted them. Yummy. I think I'll have to make something with them. Throw me some ideas.

My little Buddy. Just got a haircut. They messed up but oh well it's just hair. He needs more puff on top.

Oops this was suppose to be at the top.
That's it for today. Hope you all have a great day.

Becca, could that red one be verbena? You will love the basil, they say you can freeze it but I haven't tried this.

Your peach looks very good. I received a recipe for peaches by email the other day. It's on my other computer. I'll send it to you from the other computer in a little while. Please remind me, if I forget. You never know what will distract me as I walk from one computer to the other!

Cinnamon Grilled Peaches
Ingredients

* 4 large ripe freestone peaches
* 8 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
* 8 fresh mint leaves
* 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
* 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
* 1/4 cup dark rum
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* Pinch salt
* Peach or vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

Rinse the peaches and blot them dry with paper towels. Cut each peach in half and discard the pit. Then, cut each peach into quarters. Using a pointed chopstick or metal skewer, make a starter hole in the center of each peach quarter, working from the pit side to the skin side. Skewer 2 peach quarters on each cinnamon stick, placing a mint leaf between the 2 quarters.

Combine the butter, brown sugar, rum, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Let the glaze boil until thick and syrupy, about 5 minutes.

Prepare and preheat the grill to high. Brush and oil the grate. Next, place the skewered peaches on the hot grate and grill until nicely browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side, basting with the rum and butter glaze. Spoon any remaining glaze over the grilled peaches and serve at once. Peach or vanilla ice cream makes a great accompaniment.

Here's a recipe that I received from my blogging friend Trace.

Fresh-Peach Drop Cookies

Ripe stone fruit and sweet preserves lend a double dose of peach flavor to these summery cookies. The crisp cinnamon-sugar topping yields to a tender, moist interior that's studded with fruit.

Makes about 4 dozen

2 cups flour, plus 2 Tbsp
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 stick (8 Tbsp) margarine, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 peaches, peeled, pitted, diced into 1/4" pieces (about 1 3/4 cups)
1/3 cup peach jam or preserves
2 Tbsp. sugar for dusting
1/8 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375. Whisk together flour, salt, & baking soda. Beat margarine & sugar with a mixer on medium-high til pale & fluffy, about 4 minutes. Reduce speed to low. Beat in egg & vanilla. Add flour mixture, and beat til just combined. Add peaches & jam, and beat until just combined. Drop dough onto baking sheets by Tbsp., lined with parchment paper, spacing about 2" apart. (Dough can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days.) Combine 2 Tbsp. sugar & cinnamon. Sprinkle each cookie with 1/8 teaspoon of mixture. Bake, rotating sheets halfway through, until golden brown & just set, 11 to 13 minutes. Let cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

I love vincas and dianthus. My morning glories have gone crazy. They are 10 feet tall, but no blooms yet. Your's and Buddy's hair cuts look great!

I'm thinking your mystery plant could be Dianthus. Pretty blooms today! :)

Looks good, take care of those knees Becca oh and the elbows, lol. In front of the red blooms in the container it looks like some old verbena blooms. Need a better photo of the bloom and leaves...If it's verbena, they like sun, dianthus likes more shade and so does coleus...

Tell Buddy not to hide, I think he looks adorable. So cool. I also think the red mystery flowers might be dianthus.

First I have to say I love your new haircut! I missed reading it yesterday. I bet it feels nice and cool with it shorter.
I can't believe how good your plants look with all of your heat. We only had a few days in the 90's and it really fried quite a few flowers.
Enjoy that delicious fresh basil!!

How exciting to have your own peaches! My vote for the mystery plant is verbena too. Tell Buddy "it will grow back", that's what I always tell myself anyway...

Ah, the smell of fresh basil......I think I will chop some up for my lasagna tonight.

I love coleus, too, but did not plant any. I might run to Home Depot today and see if they have any marked down items. Now that I see your new goodies, I want some, too!

The new Blogger is a devil to grasp. I think some days it does things just to mess with you! Take care, Becca. You'll get it eventually and then they will change it! Congrats on your 202th post! Congrats on the pieaches... We like to slice peaches on our cereal. They are also good in a smoothie... AND --there is homemade peach ice cream....

Beautiful flowers.... Love the Vinca.
