Bloomin Tuesday

Joining Bloomin Tuesday today at

Can you believe it is May 1st already?

Wow - I couldn't believe that I found a poppy when I came home from work yesterday. I was thinking I probably wouldn't see one this year. It seems they are behind schedule but I just checked and I posted them last year on May 5. I expect a few more too since I now see buds. Yea!!

Mums are excited to busting a bud now. They are pretty full with buds and blooms.

This begonia was planted 2 years ago and it keeps coming back. It is mounding beautifully now. I didn't remove any of the webs and tree droppings before taking pic - yikes but ya'll know how it is.

Dianthus - 2 years old.

Finally some blooms from last years snapdragons. I love the soft yellow and pinks and whites that grace this pretty one.

And pure white snapdragons make a garden pop. Soon these will have some size to them but they are full of buds as you can see.

Love these fat snapdragons.

Love these little petite dahlias.

My first blooms on the yarrow and I'm liking this plant.

Pretty foxglove.

Is it hot where you are? We are having a heat wave with temps hovering around 90 today. It is hot! I have a feeling we will be in for a very hot and dry summer this year. Glad I have a good sprinkler and garden hose. I usually run it for approx 1 hour for each garden - usually every other day when their is no rain. Do you drag a sprinkler around your property?

Hi Becca. Now that dahlia is a beauty.Yarrow is one of the flowers I love in a garden. The foxglove is another pretty flower. I like those white blooms and purple speckles. So dainty looking. Your garden is growing so well.

Wow--I totally have begonia lust now--that is just gorgeous! And that poppy at the top is so pretty. I had a snapdragon that decided to winter over, too, and it is blooming away now--very early for where I live.

Beautiful red poppy. Love all the other blooms too. It is starting to get pretty hot here in Arizona thus the spring blooms will be gone soon. Planted lots of zinnias for the butterflies. Thanks for sharing.

It has been cold here with masses of rain. The garden has suffered and there is very little flowering.
Your garden looks wonderful, I could do with a heat wave at the moment :)

Hi Becca, Love your foxglove and poppy you have so many things blooming in your garden and I enjoyed my tour. Next I'm to your prior post to have a look at your shade garden.
You speak of hot and dry summers: last year, it rained and rained and rained, there was even flooding. Then, abruptly, it dried up and we had a very dry summer, fall, and winter. Now we are in a rain pattern again. I want to get out in the garden but it's not good to dig in the mud, so I'll need to wait.
Blessings, Beth

I never water my perennials..they must learn to survive or die..I have always followed the principal of one inch of water a week will make all plants grow deep roots..lawns too! Of course new transplants need more water than that,,but if all your roots are near the surface and then it gets hot your plants need more water..it is a terrible cycle to get into. I used to set out a coffee can and measure how long it took to sprinkle an inch of water:)
